About the opportunity

We are seeking a project manager, digital web producer, or product manager who has experience working with development teams to deliver web-based software projects. Working as the liaison between the client and our business, this exciting new role is vital to the delivery of successful client projects at Katalyst and joins an experienced team of engineers, designers, and project managers.

As a candidate for this role, you have significant experience delivering projects in an agile environment for either clients or stakeholders external to your business unit. You will have a background in the digital domain and a broad understanding of web technologies, including user experience, frontend, backend, software engineering, and security. 

Key to this role is the ability to effectively engage with both technical and non-technical audiences. You have an appreciation of the nuances between clients, designers, and engineers. This will allow you to actively participate in business conversations with our clients, have a considerate and empathetic discussion about user experience with designers, and support our engineering team to deliver effective and robust software solutions. 

You will have experience making decisions on projects at a senior level and negotiating with key stakeholders and sponsors to reach a consensus. This role also involves account management and you will have some experience in maintaining good client relationships and providing cost and time estimates to clients for feature requests. 

You will be a great collaborator who trusts your project team to deliver on what is needed. You like solving problems and can ask the right questions to determine the appropriate solution to meet client needs. Always an advocate for the client as well as the user, you can manage conflicting priorities and make key decisions and provide clear direction to the project team. You take an adaptable approach to change and have the ability to manage and reshape projects appropriately as requirements and evolve.

Work performed by the Product Delivery Manager:

  • Project management (agile methodology)
  • Facilitate planning epics / user stories / card creation 
  • Account management / client relationship management
  • Taking briefs from the client and providing estimations
  • Timesheet management
  • Client invoicing, budgeting, and budget management
  • Incident management
  • Working with designers and engineers to propose solutions and make technical decisions 
  • Actively participate and facilitate meetings, sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and supporting technical staff in client meetings

 

Skills and Experience

Essential:

5+ years of experience in the delivery of digital solutions including:

  • Experience delivering bespoke software projects with agile methodology
  • Some experience delivering large scale projects (budgets of 150k+ with a production team of 5+ staff)
  • Account management / client relationship management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to make key decisions, providing instruction to other staff, and influencing the direction of a project team
  • High-level of technical literacy with digital tools and web-based software
  • Experience managing multiple project workloads, determining priorities, and establishing how things are going to work

Good understanding of software development lifecycle, including:

  • Agile Development (e.g. Scrum/Kanban)
  • Requirements-based development (e.g. Waterfall)
  • Software testing experience
  • Use case development and requirements documentation

Great communication and collaboration skills with experience working with:

  • Business stakeholders and clients
  • Production teams including software developers and designers.
  • External suppliers and third parties such as brand and marketing teams

Project management skills, including:

  • Experience facilitating meetings and workshops to gather requirements 
  • Project budgeting including estimations and management
  • Project management tools such as JIRA and Tello
  • Establishing project team roles and responsibilities
  • Managing project risk and developing mitigation plans
  • Documentation and management of project information
  • Resource scheduling  
Desirable - not essential:
  • Qualification in project management 
  • Training or certification in Agile methodology
  • Bachelors or higher degree in a relevant field such as IT, design, or software engineering.

A diverse background, such as experience in:

  • Corporate IT environments
  • Agencies (working with multiple clients)
  • Product companies/startups
