About the opportunity

We are seeking an experienced engineer to join our company. This exciting new role sits within a team of designers, engineers, and project managers. 

As a candidate for this role, you have experience using MVC frameworks and a background in web technologies, including frontend, backend, software engineering, and security. 

Work performed by the Software Engineer:

  • Design, build, test, and deploy efficient, reusable, and reliable code
  • Implement user requirements in a full-stack development environment
  • Manage and maintain cloud-hosted services
  • Solve complex problems individually and as a team
  • Participate in team meetings, sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and support project managers in client meetings

Skills and experience


2-4 years experience in web-focused software engineering with experience.

Understanding of software development methodologies, including:

  • Agile development (e.g. Scrum/Kanban)
  • Software testing
  • Continuous integration

Effective communication skills with experience working with:

  • Project managers and team members
  • Business stakeholders and clients

A full-stack attitude to web development, with specific experience in:

  • Back-end web development experience using MVC or similar
  • Front-end experience, including Javascript frameworks and CSS
  • Relational databases
  • Deployment and system maintenance

General programming skills equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science:

  • Core concepts including recursion, higher order functions, async execution
  • Algorithm design and performance analysis
  • API design
  • Automated testing
  • Runtime debugging
  • Source code management 
  • Scripting/automation
  • Familiarity with system administration tools 
Desirable - not essential:
  • Ruby on Rails experience
  • Experience working on multiple projects with competing demands
  • Familiarity with web accessibility standards
Professional skills:
  • Good written and oral communication
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organisation and time management skills
  • Proactive and pragmatic in finding solutions
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and work autonomously
